Gerald Edwin Robert Tucker was born of Welsh parents in 1932. Having studied at the Harrow School of Art and at the Slade School of Art, he purchased a converted Thames barge and turned it into an art gallery mooring it at Pin Mill, Suffolk. With his growing reputation for his coastal scenes and paintings of Thames sailing barges, he exhibited paintings in The Royal Society of Marine Artists and The Royal Institute of Oil Painters. Several notable galleries sold his paintings including the Harrods Gallery and the Omell Gallery.
