Eugenio Zampighi was born in 1859 in Modena, Italy. He began painting from an early age and won scholarships to study art in Rome and then in Florence. By 1884, he had settled in Florence and was painting his domestic interior scenes which made him famous. These paintings give a glimpse into family life in Italy over 100 years ago, with the kitchen being at the centre of family life. His paintings are in private collections in the United Kingdom, Italy, France, Russia and the United States of America. Three oil paintings by Zampighi are in the Modena Museum of Modern Art, Italy.
